I am happy to announce that South Australia Works has awarded Gramac Solutions to undertake the Training Assistance project.

This is Initiative 5: Training Assistance and is outlined below. It is for $10,000 to assist 20 participants.

Individuals with unique circumstances still face barriers to training which lead to employment outcomes. This project will provide limited financial assistance to individuals who wish to engage in the workforce, where all other agencies and avenues have been exhausted. This project will be a collaboration with JSA’s, Disability Employment Services, commercial recruiters / placement agencies and community agencies.

The contact person is Grace McNally on 87 248 577 if you are interested in contacting her regarding this.

I am happy to announce that we have awarded Uniting Care Wesley Port Adelaide to undertake the Life Skills Project.

This is Initiative 2: Life Skills and is outlined below. This project is for $20,000 to help 20 individuals.

Mature age, humanitarian migrants and adult early school leavers, who would otherwise be willing to engage in the labour market, limit themselves due to inadequate life skills. Well documented market intelligence identified barriers such as low self esteem, attitudinal slippage and personal deportment. This project will seek to identify and engage individuals in a structured, tailored program that overcomes those barriers and leads towards further engagement.

The contact person for this project is : Cherie Jolly on 0448 425 107 if you are interested in speaking with her about it.

Just a quick note to confirm we will be commencing our Limestone Coast Leadership Development Program (LDP) with a student briefing on the 5th March 2010 in Mt Gambier with courses starting on the 18th of March 2010.

This is a unique opportunity to be taught by leading academics from a 5 star rated MBA in Mt Gambier as opposed to undertaking distance education, the program can also provide credit for 2 courses in the UniSA MBA program to allow those already undertaking the MBA online to gain some face to face education experience.

We still have a number of places available and ask that you consider circulating this to your organisation and contacts to ensure the region maximises the benefit from this program.

We can still accept students until the 17th March.

See http://www.unisa.edu.au/strategic/Leadership%20Development/ for program details and http://www.unisa.edu.au/igsb/mba/default.asp for details of our MBA.

The what:

This is a training subsidy project to assist the most disadvantaged individuals in the community gain the necessary ‘tickets’ to achieve employment.

Some people in the Limestone Coast, who have done the hard yards with study, are finding the completion of that study financially restrictive. Some jobseekers are also finding not having a particular ‘ticket’ is becoming a barrier to sustainable employment.

The how:

This initiative will provide financial assistance for individuals who have a funding gap in completing their studies; studies which will lead to employment. It will also subsidise the funding gap in gaining a ticket, licence, certificate or other document which will lead to employment.

The who:

Tender applications are invited from incorporated organisations, who have a local physical presence, to administer this project.

The when:

Application forms are available from the Project Officer for Employment and Training Programs at the Limestone Coast Regional Development Board Inc. Contact through 08 8723 1057 or via email at david@lcrdb.com. Requests will be accepted until close of business 29 January 2010.

The what:

This is a transport subsidy program to increase workforce participation through targeted financial assistance.

The why:

Getting to work or training in the Limestone Coast is difficult due to a multitude of transportation barriers; even greater for those most marginalised.

Assistance may also include subsidised travel to attend field trips that are part of training courses. All transport assistance will directly link to an employment pathway.

The who:

Tender applications are invited from incorporated organisations, who have a local physical presence, to administer this project.

This tender is to administer funding of $25,000 in total.

The when:

Application forms are available by contacting the Project Officer for Employment and Training Programs at the Limestone Coast Regional Development Board Inc on 08 8723 1057 or via email at david@lcrdb.com. Applications will be accepted until close of business 30th November 2009.

This project is made possible through a partnership between the Limestone Coast Regional Development Board Inc and the South Australia Works in the Regions program, a Department for Further Education Employment Science and Technology initiative.
